5 Ways to Entertain Your Kids in the Lincolnshire Area This Summer

School’s out—and you might be wondering how you’re going to be able to entertain your kids this summer. It’s important to continue to grow their minds, let them burn off energy, and spend time together as a family, but that can all be overwhelming. Luckily, Lincolnshire, a family-friendly community north of Chicago, has plenty to do all year round for families with kids. Here are 5 ways that you can keep your kids occupied and make this summer one to remember.

Go mini golfing

Lincolnshire is home to Par-King Mini Golf, a fun establishment for both kids and adults. Featuring two 18-hole courses, 19 moving obstacles, and 7 water holes, this is a mini golfer's wonderland. Children must be 48 inches tall to play, making this the perfect option for your older kids to practice their swing while enjoying the wacky themes and decorations.

The courses are open all day every day, and you can even make reservations for parties or other events if you want the course to yourselves. Par-King has been named one of America’s Best Miniature Golfs, making it a must visit for any family.

Attend summer camps and classes

While the school year may be over, that doesn’t mean that your kids shouldn’t be learning. Lincolnshire is home to many different opportunities for summer camps and day camps that will work both kids' brains and bodies. Noggin Builders and Kids Science Labs offer STEM experiences through classes, camps, and field trips. Experiences are customized for kids entering pre-k through 7th grade, including hands-on activities supervised by experienced teachers.

MyGym is another local business offering camps and events throughout the summer for kids. Their classes are designed to get your children up and moving with an emphasis on physical development. This is done through games, gymnastics skills building, interactive play, and even art projects, and is great for kids 2.5 to 9 years old. Be sure to check out what events they’re holding throughout the summer and sign up early to reserve your spot.

Visit local parks and playgrounds

Most kids love to go to the playground and run wild. Lincolnshire is home to many great playgrounds and parks, giving you plenty of options to rotate through and keep your little ones entertained.

One of the best rated playgrounds in the area is Kid’s Castle at Deerpath Park. Parents love that the ground is covered in soft rubber rather than mulch and kids love the large space that they can explore. The playground is connected to long trails, great for walks with pets or stroller rides for the kids once they’re tuckered out. Featuring slides at various heights and a zipline, there is plenty to do at this playground all summer long.

Get creative and make art

It’s no secret that kids love to be creative. The Painted Penguin is a great way for your whole family to practice their painting skills and get to take home their masterpieces at the end of the day. With over 3,000 pieces to choose from, your kids will have a great time creating their own pieces of art.

There are multiple locations in the Lincolnshire area so that you can incorporate the trip into your other plans for the day as well. This is also a great option for any birthday parties you may find yourself hosting this summer, with all of the materials provided for you to make it in a cinch.

Have fun at an amusement park

Another extremely popular family outing for Lincolnshire families is a visit to Six Flags Great America. This amusement park is known across the country for its thrilling rides and exciting games. Only a 20 minute drive from Lincolnshire, you can easily spend a whole day at the park, or take a short day if the enthusiasm begins to wane. Six Flags is great for kids of all ages, and it has a kiddie section with easy rides for younger kids as well as some of the first-of-their-kind roller coasters for older kids or adults.

On particularly hot days, families can also visit the attached water park, Hurricane Harbor. Water slides and splash pads alike come together and create a reprieve from the summer sun. Both season and day passes are available, complete with meal credits and parking vouchers so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
