For the diverse trumpeter who has spent the last 32 years of life pursuing music with dedication and determination, Marques has turned his passion into a career and a life long journey. To say that Jazz is his only plateau would limit his overall playing ability and knowledge of music.
Marques Carroll is an innovative young trumpeter and a rising star in the Chicago jazz scene. His ensemble pays tribute to some of the great trumpeters in jazz (referred to as BAM, or Black American Music), and includes their arrangements of works by Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Nicholas Payton, Lee Morgan, Clark Terry, and Freddie Hubbard as well as original pieces by the band members.
The intriguing lineup of rhythm section (piano, bass, drums) plus three trumpets gives plenty of opportunity for both tight ensemble playing and soaring solo work. This concert will be recorded live for WDCB, so you will be part of a live studio audience. A cash bar, light snacks, and free parking will be available. We can’t wait to see you there!
